KC Studio designed a restaurant disguised as a coffee shop for our client, Jetplane Coffee. We maintained as much as the existing character of the building as possible, while converting the empty and abandoned building into a thriving eatery and café. The large commercial kitchen occupies a majority of the space, and we utilized existing clerestory windows to bring natural light into the back-of-house areas. In the front-of-house, patrons enjoy a fun flight-themed interior, and we revised the path of egress to accommodate the increased occupancy load and make room for a “first-class lounge”. Specific care was taken to ensure proper flow through the space to avoid long lines and crowding around the café area.
